Also, here is a little something I found, its not RF but I know we could make it in RF. Pretty amazing render if you ask me, very cool!

Alley Flood Render Rendered with Mantra, skinned using the new VDB stuff in H12.5 The comp needs work but I'm happy with the overall render so I figured I would throw it online to prove I actually render things.....som ...

This is about as rough as it comes, but I wanted to play with meshing. I really like how stringy the mesh is, but the particles are about as Dynamic as a rock. Really need it to fall faster, be more turbulent and pretty much everything else. Criticism welcome!

Quick quesiton. I went back and reviewed how to parent the noise field in RF to the core and for some reason on my sim, the noise field won't move. I have it as active, bounded, and parented to the core. Still nothing. Is this normal or am I missing something small? Otherwise, I hopefully will be posting a meshed core here soon!

This is great. Love that idea, sort of outside the box thinking to get such a great looking shot. It has a very Day after Tomorrow feel. Really well done. Thanks for sharing the secrets! haha

Hey all, I was having the damnedest time getting the basic set up for the Potter Effect and thought I would share my setup with you if anyone else was having problems.

I found that the curve flow will not follow the duplicate softbody curve, so instead of creating it as the video shows, swap it over to softbody on the original and create a duplicate as a back up, then the curve flow will follow all the turbulence movement.

My next problem was getting the end of the curve to follow the movement of my sphere. Of course this took me waaaaaaay longer than it should have, but it came down to basically goaling the softbody particles to the sphere as well. So they now have 2 goals on them. Edit the particles like Luis does in the video with the component editor however there is one more step. Swap your particle render attributes over to numeric and figure out what the particle ID is for the tail end particle. Then swap the goal weight for the cube over to PPgoal weight.

Explosion sim I have been playing with. I like the look, but wish it was more violent in the beginning, still working on it!

Very cool! Add in a turb field to the particles to see if you can dial in some more back and forth movement to kind of break up some of the main cone.

    Bit of fun really...

But this really needs a ton of work. I am not sure why it keeps creating particles at that insane rate at the end. Need to optimize this badly. It took over 6 hrs to sim roughly 3 seconds... any thoughts would be welcome. I would like the breach spashes to cut off once the drucken is fully out of the water, not sure why they keep shooting out.

The sub lifting scene is amazing, and I am sure we can do it in RF. I have been playing with the Duck breaching the water and it's pretty cool. Will upload a play blast as soon as the sim is done.

These sims take forever though! Is there a way to streamline it at all? I am simming about 10 frames per hour.... painful!!

Quick tip I just learned this week. If you upload your video directly to VFX Learning only friends of yours can comment on it! So if you will be uploading to the site directly please be sure to friend me too so I can take a look and give you a little feed back.

However, if you link your video to the site (ie Upload to Vimeo or Youtube) anyone can comment on it. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. Also Luis, tell me if this is wrong or if you prefer we upload to the site directly!
